“Deepak Sharma – A Caregiver at heart who found his wings with us”
I first met him and his wife in the autumn of 2009 through the Teach for India programme.
The first time I met Mr. Deepak Sharma (now I call him papa), I was a little scared just like every other kid at Udayan Care.We were all uncertain and curious as to what kind of a person he will be?
My life changed for the better since I first met him (Mr. Deepak Sharma), and thanks to God’s blessings, it is still going great now. He has and even now is playing a very important role in my life and of my sisters’ life.
In 2013, I got to know that Mr. Deepak Sharma has joined Udayan Care as Director of the Jagshanti Home for Girls in Greater Noida. I also learnt that he has taken voluntary retirement from his corporate job to serve society
I work as an assistant manager at the Jagshanti Home in Greater Noida where Deepak Sharma serves as the mentor father.
Fathers, like mothers, are pillars in the development of a child’s emotional well-being. My other siblings and I at Udayan Care did not have parents, and it was this unfortunate fate that brought us all to Udayan Care.
It was a proud moment for me when I was selected for the Udayan Shalini Fellowship out of the 306 girls who had applied, following a round of selection.
I had heard a lot about Deepak uncle from my mentor mother even before I went to the Greater Noida home. That said, I had never imagined then that uncle would become such an important figure in my life.
Deepak Uncle has been more than a dad to most of the children and young adults. He has always come forward to be there for all of them.
I first saw him (Mr. Deepak Sharma) at my summer camp in 2014. He was on stage, delivering a speech, his voice clear and confident. He soon became a pillar of support to me and the others at the home, supporting us mentally, socially and financially
Deepak Uncle has been a blessing to me.
I only wish God had sent him in my life earlier, while I was still at Udayan Care. I had in fact moved out of Udayan Care by the time he had arrived.
My first expression about him was very neutral. Accordingly, I supported him with an open heart and with full integrity as he embarked on his journey of altruism at Udayan Care.
Deepak Uncle joined the Jag Shanti Home of Udayan Care in Greater Noida home as the mentor father on 3 September 2013. I was then in the first year of college, pursuing B.Pharm from Galgotias University.
It was such a joyous experience when I was selected for the Udayan Shalini Fellowship programme out of some 300 girls following a round of tests and interviews.
I first met Mr. Deepak Sharma in 2019 when I shifted from Ghaziabad to Greater Noida, and it was a wonderful experience just at the first meeting itself.
I had heard a lot about Deepak’s uncle from my mentor mother even before I went to the Greater Noida home. That said, I had never imagined then that my uncle would become such an important figure in my life.
I joined ZHCOET in AMU Aligarh in mid-1977 in the electrical engineering branch and very soon became friends with Deepak – the brightest boy of the batch. Right from the entrance exam up to the final year, he would top the batch.
This got me thinking about how true and apt this quote actually was and how perfectly it suits Mr Deepak Sharma, or rather Deepak sir to us and Deepak’s uncle for the Shalini of the Udayan Shalini Fellowship program.
Mr. Deepak Sharma comes across as a very nice and dedicated person, who is focused on his commitment and work.I have known him since he started with Udayan Care as a volunteer, and today he is our trustee at the Udayan Care Board.
My mentor, my captain, my brother – those are the three words by which I would describe Deepak Sharma. I have known him since his starting days as an Executive Trainee at NTPC in 1983.
I came to know Mr. Deepak Sharma and his wife, Dr. Sunita Sharma when they started volunteering at our Noida Boys’ Home with the Teach For India program. I still serve as the mentor there.
I first met Mr. Deepak Sharma in 2012 at our Noida Girls Home, where I am a mentor. My first impression of him was of a strict disciplinarian, who had children’s welfare in his heart and mind. He respects ‘time and talent’.
The memories of early childhood are few, not because they happen to be few, but because we hardly tend to remember the earliest of our growing-up years.
